Gallery TEN now have some new works from young glass artist Shaun Fraser.
Shaun Fraser is a glass sculptor and visual artist based in the Scottish Highlands. Shaun is a graduate of Edinburgh College of Art with an Honours Degree in Glass. Currently studying at the Royal College of Art in London, his glass castings have been featured in exhibits across the U.K. and he has received awards for his glass work in his native home of Scotland.
Coming to the gallery in May will be four of the winners from last years UK Glass Biennale. Gallery TEN is pleased to bring works from the winning entry Ashraf Hanna and runner up Nicholas Collins plus two of the best emerging artist award winners Harry Morgan and Elliot Walker. This show is in part a response to the anniversary events being held this year in support of North Lands Creative Glass celebrating 20 years of involvement in the glass arts in Scotland, the UK and the wider, world glass community. Show runs 30.04.16 – 28.05.16
Peter Layton is one of the world’s most widely respected glass artists and he has done more to promote glassmaking as an art form than anyone else in Europe. He has influenced, encouraged and nurtured several of this country’s leading glassmakers and has inspired many more internationally. At the age of 75, Peter remains extremely active and is regarded as the ‘grand old man of glass’. This exhibition will show work from both Peter and his team, including Louis Thompson, Bruce Marks, Tim Rawlinson, Layne Rowe and others.
We have just received a beautiful glass panel made by David Kaplan and Annica Sandstrom. This panel is made from blown cylinders by David that are subsequently fused and kiln formed by Annica combining to make this free standing glass panel.
