Simon Ward

Most recently Simon’s work has involved the exploration of ceramic surfaces using under glaze print techniques with a focus upon traditional Chinese blue and white decoration. This is a result of recent invited residencies in China, where new work explored the cross-cultural language of craft. Multiple flocks of birds are arranged in collections and patterns. Often whimsical with layers of nonsense and narrative; other pieces however are a visual commentary on ceramic tradition and the gradual decline of ceramic industry in Britain.
