“Monoprinting gives me the necessary detachment to analyse my subjects and find a translation for what caused me to look in the first place. My subjects are generated my immediate surroundings, and their careful observation through sketches and drawings. Recently the sea and water have formed a strand of work, while the City around me continues to provide a powerful source of inspiration.
I inherited an interest in Art from my father who is a painter. However, it is really over the past 10 years that I have seriously pursued this interest. I have been guided in this by talented and generous artists, chiefly amongst them Kate Downie, whose Tuesday School of Art, I attended for 5 years. Kate also introduced me to monoprinting which has become my medium of choice, although I continue to paint and draw.”
